Renfrew can look forward to First Division football again next season after their bid to avoid relegation proved to be a success.

A 2-1 defeat for Neilston at the hands of Cambuslang Rangers last Wednesday night meant safety was confirmed for the New Western Park players without them having to kick a ball.

Renfrew had all but guaranteed their survival with a 4-1 win over promotion-chasing Shotts Bon Accord in their most recent fixture.

Now they can start planning for another season in the second tier of the West of Scotland Football League, with manager Jimmy Quigley and his team able to enjoy their final fixtures of the 2023/24 campaign without worrying about the dreaded drop.

There was no game for Renfrew at the weekend but they will return to action this Saturday as they make the short journey to Johnstone Burgh, with a 2pm kick-off at Keanie Park.

Renfrew will then round off their season against St Roch’s on May 10
