RENFREW Juniors and Johnstone Burgh ended their Sectional League Cup campaigns on Saturday with a 1-1 draw at Keanie Park.

Scott Morton put Renfrew in front in the second half and had Colin Clark and Martin Ferry’s side on course for victory.

However the home side did not give in and Jack Heron levelled to give the local rivals a share of the spoils.

Neither side qualified from the group and will now turn their attentions to the opening weekend of the league season on Saturday.

Renfrew registered one win and two draws from their Sectional games, suffering a 3-0 defeat to Greenock in the opening tie.

The New Western Park side have their first game in the Super League First on Saturday following last season’s promotion.

They will face a tough test as they travel to Rutherglen Glencairn’s Celcius Stadium (kick-off 2pm).

Frew have a daunting start with promotion candidates Irvine Meadow and Petershill to face in the coming weeks.

Johnstone Burgh ended the Sectional League Cup with three draws and a defeat.

Their Central District First Division campaign gets up and running on Saturday when they welcome Benburb to Keanie Park (2pm kick-off).

Trips to Wishaw and Lesmahagow and a home tie against Greenock make up the first four fixtures for David Brolly and Colin Smith’s side.
