PLANS have been submitted to transform vacant land into a storage site.

Proposals have been put forward by Classic Land and Property Ltd to build "van storage" and a "sales centre" on Linwood Road.

The unused green space currently sits beside an electricity distribution site and behind a van-selling unit.

The north of the site is bounded by a number of homes at Fisher Drive.

Drawings have revealed that several containers ranging from 20ft to 40ft will be stored on the land, alongside a workshop and valet shed, if council bosses give the plans the green light.

The expansion is being proposed for Northern Vans/Bradley’s Removals & Storage.

Documents reveal that the expansion will have a view to "employ a local workforce" to operate in Renfrewshire.

The company advertise and regularly works in and around the Renfrewshire area, as well as storing goods in the Bishopbriggs storage facilities at a high cost and logistical impracticality to their business.

Northern Vans is a family-run company that was formed in 1994 and has been operating for over 30 years.

Renfrewshire Council planning committee is considering the application and a decision is expected to be made by Monday, May 27.
