Renfrew Fire Station is hosting a charity car wash this weekend.

The event, open to the public, will take place on March 2, from 10am to 3pm.

Locals can have their vehicles cleaned in return for a donation to The Fire Fighters Charity - which provides support to serving and retired fire and rescue service personnel, their dependents, and other eligible members of the UK fire services community.

It aims to help these individuals lead happier and healthier lives.

Stuart Murdoch, station commander, who organised the event, said: "This will be our first Fire Fighters Charity Car Wash of the year within East Renfrewshire, Renfrewshire and Inverclyde.

"We will be joined by our colleagues from Glasgow Airport Fire and Rescue Service, which is operated by Falck, and we will also be joined by the SFRS Heritage Trust who will attend with some vintage fire appliances.

"The 5th Legion will also be supporting us as they do for all local events in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity, and they are experts in getting cars through the back gates to be washed.

"We’d love to see as many people as possible there on the day, supporting such a worthy cause."

Lyndsay Campbell, community fundraiser at The Fire Fighters Charity, said every pound raised on the day will make a life-changing difference.

The charity relies primarily on donations for funding.
