An Erskine schoolgirl has waved goodbye to her long locks for a good cause in memory of her gran.

We previously reported how eight-year-old Emma Watson has decided to donate over 10 inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young people who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Emma and her brother Christopher, seven, have also raised £550 for the charity so far in memory of her gran Patricia Beattie, who died from kidney cancer in October 2021 at the age of 73.

On Tuesday afternoon, Emma had 12 inches of her hair taken off at Uber Indulge, in Bishopton.

Emma's mum Gillian Beattie said the Rashielea Primary pupil was "absolutely chuffed to bits" with her haircut.

She told The Gazette: "I can't put into words how proud I am of Emma and Christopher.

"The amount of support has also been absolutely brilliant, with lots of people sponsoring them.

"Even Uber Indulge wouldn't take any money for the haircut and donated it into the charity bucket for her, which was a really nice thing for them to do.

"It's just been a lovely experience from start to finish and it's really inspiring for their friends in school as well.

"I think they are all now thinking about how they can also fundraise, which is excellent."
