Drivers face delays this month as essential maintenance work is carried out on a busy route in Renfrewshire.

Temporary closures will be in place due to repairs to the A737 carriageway between Milliken Park and Howwood.

The resurfacing work is set to begin on Monday, August 14 and is scheduled to end on Tuesday, August 29.

In addition, bridge expansion joint replacements will take place 350m south-west of Howwood train station from Tuesday, August 15 to Monday, August 21.

The work will be carried out using overnight road closures and a signed diversion will be in operation.

On Monday, August 14, and Tuesday, August 15, the A737 will be closed at this location between 10pm and 6am.

Closures will then be in effect between 8pm and 6am on all remaining nights. All traffic management will be removed by 6am on Tuesday, August 29.

During road closures, northbound traffic will be diverted at the Howwood Junction to follow the B787 Beith Road.

Traffic will then turn left to follow the B787 Cochranemill Road and Kilbarchan Road before re-joining the A737 eastbound via the Kilbarchan on-slip.

Southbound traffic will follow this route in reverse.

A spokesperson for Amey said: "We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential work takes place."

All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
