A CAR and three sets of keys have been stolen from a garage in Johnstone.

The car, which belonged to a customer, was taken from Central Garage on Church Street at around 3pm on Tuesday, September 27.

Stuart Wilson, who works at the garage, posted the CCTV image of the man who took the keys appealing for locals to help identify him.

Posting online, Stuart said: "This gentleman has just walked into my work which is Central Garage in Johnstone and lifted 3 sets of keys from the desk, and one car is missing!"

Since the appeal was put online, the post has received more than 6,000 shares with locals trying to find the man resposible. 

Chief Inspector Simon Wright who is the Area Commander based at Johnstone said: "We are investigating the report of a theft after a man lifted a number of keys and stole a vehicle.

"The incident was reported on Tuesday, September 27 at 3pm at Central Garage on Church Street.

"We are working with the garage and reviewing CCTV. There is a positive line of enquiry."
