A LINWOOD girl is getting ready to walk the catwalk as she competes in a national beauty pageant next month.

Emilie O'Hara is hoping to be crowned mini Face of the Globe at Glasgow Airport's Holiday Inn on October 15.

And if the five-year-old impresses the judges and places in the top five, she will be on a plane to Disneyland Paris for the international finals.

Emilie will be competing in two rounds in the mini category (five to eight year-olds) of the UK heat. The contestants are judged on their walking, personality and presentation. The opening round will see them walk the catwalk in a pink t-shirt and black trousers in 'Pink Face Of The Globe' and in the rainbow round Emilie will get to show off her favourite party dress.

Before strutting their stuff, finalists will also be interviewed by the judging panel.

Emilie told the Gazette: “This is my first pageant so I'm really excited. I would love to go to Disneyland, it would be brilliant.”

Mum Amanda added: “She is really looking forward to it and can't wait to get up on stage. It's exciting to think there is a chance of her getting to France and being able to compete against talent from the rest of the world.

“If Emilie is successful on the night she will be invited to attend the grand finals in Disneyland Paris next year for the chance to be crowned mini Face of the Globe 2017. Contestants compete for the title worldwide from as far away as Australia.”

The pageant is not all beauty and fashion however, as Emilie and fellow contestants are helping to fundraise for Face of the Globe's chosen charity. Rainbow Child Foundation helps underprivileged children all over the world by providing care, clean water, crops and shelter through building schools and orphanages for example.

Founded by the X-Factor's Chico, each contestant will raise funds for the charity with the top UK fundraiser being given a place in the Paris final.

Emilie will take to the stage on Saturday, October 15 in the Scotland national finals.

The top five from each of the four age groups will be announced on Sunday, October 16 – with each offered a place in the world finals.

A total of 20 girls will be selected for Team Scotland.
