RENFREWSHIRE could be seeing more festivals come its way following the success of Brae to Brae and RevivalFest.

The two music festivals debuted in the final two weeks of August and saw a turnout of around 600 people.

Organiser Drew McCormack said: "It was a first go and feedback from acts was very positive.

"The Hazel immediately booked up 8 weeks of live music on Saturdays and other venues expressed an interest."

Venues for RevivalFest included The Victoria Bar, The Columba Club, The Ferry Inn and Cottons Bar. Brae to Brae had acts touring the town visiting The Globe Bar, Callums Bar, The Wee Café at No 47, The Hag bar and The Hazel Arms starting on Friday, August 26.

There was something for everyone with an open mic at the Wee Café at No 47 set up outside that got toddlers, teenagers and even pensioners involved in making some music.

Pleased with the turnout of the two festivals Drew has stated that he wants to develop them over the next few years and is even in talks for more festivals this year.

He said: "We are already talking to the local business association and community council to consider next summer and we may look at one or two events over the Christmas period to take that further.

"The events bring extra footfall to the town and other businesses out with the venues can benefit."

In the days leading up to the festivals, musicians took to the streets and venues to do some busking in promotion for the two events and give the crowds a sample of what was to follow.

The festivals were thought up by Mad Angle Music following the success of the I Heart Renfrew Christmas festival.

The event received no external funding, being fully paid for by sponsorship from The Renfrew development Trust, Brick Lane Studios Paisley, The Diane Mitchell Music School and The Paisley Music Centre.

Mr McCormack wishes to thank the venues for their support as well as Brick Lane Studios Paisley.
